"College Friends" or "Friends-In-Law" (9/24/05)
I've been friends with Heather since just before Y2K, although it feels much longer. She's always been a very special friend to me. When she told me she was getting married, I jaded her for being the last of my cynical single friends abondoning me for domestication. She ensured me that she'll always be cynical! When asked how we are friends, I have to really think back. She was one of my friend's sister's friends (got that?). Somebody at the wedding said, "Oh, friends-in-law." But I can simply, and proudly, say now she is my friend. For some reason, she always calls me one of her college friends, even though I never went to college with her! It was great making it to her wedding and being part of her special day. |
