Golden Darkness (10/9/04)
This is the first shot in my Fall 1 series. When this series was shot in early October, it was done under ironic circumstances. My initial plans for this Sunday afternoon involved going over to my parents', like I usually do on Sundays. During this time of the year, my father was still dealing with his disease, still unaccustomed to all the medications he had to take to ease his pain. The flair-ups in his meds led to serious depression. On this beautiful fall day, when I stopped over to visit my parents, my dad was upstairs and upset. He wouldn't come down. He didn't want any company. He didn't want anybody to see him that way. My mom, completely beside herself, had to politely ask me to leave, so Dad could have some privacy and deal with his depression.

For such a beautiful golden day, things with my dad never felt so dark. That's probably why it's taken me so long to post this series.

This was shot at the local park here in Wrightstown, WI, less than a mile from my house.
