The Warm Cold (12/20/04)
This was shot during the first major snowfall, just days before Christmas 2004. I'm always intrigued by the eerie night light of a town during a big snowfall, which is always brighter than usual. I'm sure it has to do something with light reflecting off of the snow, but it just looks cool. As I was admiring the winter storm from the warmth of my living room window, I noticed the cool reflection of my Christmas tree through the window. With the reflection of my tree lights overlapping my decorations outside and the house lit up across the street, it created a really interesting composition. To me, the Christmas lights and the lighter-than-it-should-be night created an odd feeling of warmth, on what actually was a pretty wicked night. I suppose that, my friends, is what Christmas tales are made of. |
