Open Water (1/15/05)
When I'm feeling particularly inspired, I'll just go out for a drive. It's a good way for me to clear my head, listen to some loud music, and find a destination to shoot some photographs. On this particular Saturday afternoon, I found myself procrastinating my cleaning chores, and found a spot a few miles down that road, that I've shot many time last summer. It's a very non-descript little stretch of road, but it seems to have endless photographic possibilities. There's a hill that goes down to this ravine, which goes over a small creek. Going over the creek is another bridge with train tracks. There are a few farms along the way, and endless wildlife around it all. What I found interesting about this shot was how the creek had frozen over, but there's the implication that the water's still running underneath, just ready to break through. I love the footprints in this shot, a clue left from a previous visitor who's probably as interested in the ice as I was that day.
