Get Well Soon (4/11/04)
This photo was shot on Easter Sunday. It's a really weird shot for me, one that wreaks of irony. On the surface, these flowers seem quite beautiful. But they were purchased for my grandmother who'd been put in a retirement home earlier that week. A few days previous to this picture, we thought she was going to die. The other memory that is triggered when I see this picture is that this was only a few days after Dad was diagnosed with diabetes, still suffering from excruciating pain in his feet. Some days are better than others for him now, but the pain is still there. This struggle is far from over. It still weighs heavy on the mind and hearts of me and my family. So, yeah, on the surface, these flowers are quite beautiful....
