Hearts (4/11/03)
I went for a walk Friday (4/11/03) night after work with my new video camera. The intentions I had for this walk was to get as much footage of people's homes with the American flag waving in the wind. It was pretty impressive to me, that almost every-other house seemed to have a flag or some other time of patriotic decor. I really felt connected to small-town USA.

On the return of my walk, I started coming across a bunch of yellow ribbons, and the war effort hit me like a hammer once again. This photo was shot just a few feet from my apartment, on the fence of the playground at St. Paul's Catholic school. There was a whole section of this fence with these little wooden hearts and yellow ribbons. It was a such a loving statement from the first and second graders, right under my nose practically. The chain link fence that these hearts were on reminded me of the p.o.w.'s over there, and all the other victims of the fight. The photo was shot with my video camera, which has a digital camera feature on it. Although it's not a high-end quality photo, I was able to capture the shot at the moment.
